As the treasured, 48-year-old Denver Broncos home became antiquated and insufficient for hosting large, sophisticated events, Denver looked to HNTB Architecture of Kansas City as Design Architect and Fentress Architects as the hometown Associate Architect to create a state-of-the-art, iconic stadium. The new six-level facility features natural grass, open air and up to 80,000 seats for a variety of event types. Designed as a dynamic, spirited and futuristic civic space, INVESCO Field looks to the future while maintaining key traditions of Mile High Stadium. The “Broncos Experience” is retained through the seats’ proximity to the field, the horseshoe shaped bowl and the use of steel risers and treads for fans to produce "Rocky Mountain Thunder."
