Jefferson County Government Center
Golden, Colorado
USA

The 180-acre campus master plan and the government center were designed to give the quickly growing rural and suburban county west of Denver a prominent seat of government, help government functions to run more efficiently and respond to the needs of Golden's citizens. Government as a servant of the people is a key aspect of civic architecture and certainly this building.

Inspiration for the building came from the father of democracy himself, Thomas Jefferson, for whom the county is named. The building is comprised of a 125-foot central rotunda tangent to two semicircular wings that bow out symmetrically into the landscape. The center overlooks the Human Services Building, a jail and numerous support facilities, also designed by the firm.
